Homeowners Mike and Pat plan to remodel an 1880's one-room log cabin into a year-round vacation residence. The cabin has been used as a schoolhouse, a gangster's hideout and a hunting lodge. It's dilapidated and has no running water.
Mark Stegner, a childhood friend of the homeowners, designed the remodel and also acted as the builder. The new plans turn the one-room log cabin into a comfortable new vacation home with two lofted bedrooms.
In the newly remodeled cabin, two "see-through" wings were added to expand the first floor living space with a sunroom and a screen porch. There's also a new kitchen and indoor bathroom. Up the spiral staircase, there are now two bedrooms.
