The National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) conducted a survey in 2002 of all their members to discern consumer demands. With more than 47 million kitchen cabinets and nearly 8 million bathroom vanity cabinets sold in that year, here is what NKBA members said their consumers valued most:
Style over brand - 85 percent vs. 6 percent
Style over price - 66 percent vs. 28 percent
Style over status - 78 percent vs. 13 Percent
Price over brand - 69 percent vs. 28 percent
Function over form - 80 percent vs. 12 percent
Informal over formal - 80 percent vs. 8 percent
Subdued over bright - 55 percent vs. 34 percent
