Norm Oliver graduated from California State College Long Beach in 1971, where he majored in art. He began his professional career with Santa Monica architect Carl Day, serving a thorough apprenticeship in architectural drawing. Norm then moved back to his native northern California, where he worked as a home designer and estimator for a Santa Rosa construction company before going out on his own as a designer in 1982.
Today numerous examples of Norm's work can be found around the city of Sonoma. He has designed Mediterranean, California Mission and Victorian-style homes, but his first love is for the Craftsman style. He is especially proud of his successful integration of new-home construction into existing neighborhoods alongside older Sonoma homes.
Although he has worked on new homes, Norm's remodeling jobs stress maximizing livability in both form and function. With each project that comes across his desk, he strives to embody a consistent overall sense of good artistic design in each home; an approach that begins with careful listening. During the entire design process, Norm works closely with his clients to integrate their ideas and dreams into an aesthetically pleasing home.
Norm lives happily in Glen Ellen with the love of his life and his two dogs.
