Andersen 400 Series Woodwright Double-Hung Insert Window
Product Review

April 22, 2006 — When you want the design flexibility of a new window and the ease and speed of installation of a replacement unit, the Andersen 400 Series Woodwright Double-Hung Insert Window is a great option. The 400s go in like a standard replacement window, fitting inside the existing jamb, but offer you and your remodeling client more features than a standard white vinyl unit.

At a 3-1/4" jamb depth, you can replace old single-pane or even old replacement windows with minimum disturbance to interior window trim for most double hung replacements, saving you and your client extra labor costs. The units can be installed from the inside or outside of the dwelling, and, according to the company, the Fibrex exterior stop-cover is quick to install and provides a neat transition from the new window to the existing trim. Andersen provides Low-E and optional Sun Low-E glass. The units are customizable to 1/8 inch.

The 400 series wood windows are also available with various sash and grille details in a range of patterns, finishes, and colors. You can get the 400s with interior wood species such as oak, pine, maple, and pre-finished white.
