Beefing up the Garage: Gladiator GarageWorks

Gladiator Garage Works by Whirlpool

By Andrew Hunt

A place for everything, and everything in its place.

This old adage has long been the mantra of tidy homeowners. While this concept is easily applied to the spice racks, silverware drawers and china cabinets of the kitchen and dining room, finished garages are often forgotten. Yet the garage is one place in the home that is infamously in need of organization.

If organization begins with storage, Gladiator GarageWorks lets builders differentiate themselves by offering finished garages that provide great storage and workbench capacity combined with rugged, durable style.

Built to stand up to the tough wear and tear of the garage environment, Gladiator brand products include tread plate steel and gloss black and silver epoxy paint finish designed to resist solvents and moisture.

Builders may be familiar with this product line from Whirlpool, which introduced the Welded Steel Gladiator products a few years ago. This year, Gladiator Garage Works introduces two new lines of cabinet and organization systems to meet the pricing and organizational needs of a wider variety of homeowners—the Gladiator Steele line and the Gladiator Cadet Laminate Cabinets.

The Gladiator Steele line has the same look of the original Welded Steel cabinets and incorporates the same hammered granite powder-coat paint finish and tread plate steel on the door and drawer fronts, but it has a lower entry point. Cabinets come unassembled, allowing for easier transport and storage prior to installation.

The Gladiator Cadet Laminate ready-to-assemble cabinets are constructed of a durable laminate material and represent the entry point into the Gladiator brand family. The Cadet Laminate products are designed to be of superior quality and durability compared with standard pressed-wood cabinets and are being offered through a licensing arrangement with Stack-A-Shelf, a division of Emerson Corporation.

Easy to install, these new steel and laminate products are compatible with conventional 16- and 24-inch stud framing and also fit on Gladiator Gear Track Channels and GearWall Panels for easy repositioning as storage needs change.

For those homeowners wanting more than just storage and work space for their garage, Gladiator GarageWorks offer a full line of matching appliances:

  • The Chillerator Garage Refrigerator appeals to busy families who want more refrigerator space but expect higher performance than the traditional refrigerator that they retired from their kitchen. The Energy Star-qualified Chillerator is designed to handle the extreme temperature and humidity of the garage environment while reducing energy consumption.
  • The Freezerator convertible refrigerator/freezer provides extra freezer space with a convertible upper compartment that can operate as a refrigerator or freezer. Unlike typical refrigerators designed for inside the home, the Freezerator has a double pass heat loop that helps keep the outside of the refrigerator from sweating in high humidity environments.
  • The Gladiator Compactor features rugged Gladiator® Styling complete with casters for easy mobility. The garage trash compactor can help free up kitchen space while decreasing the number of trash bags used and reducing the number of trips to the curb.
