HOST: As the market is in a little bit of a downturn, a lot of us home builders are getting back into the remodeling end of things. Now it's my understanding Marvin's come out with a new window -- a replacement window that will help us remodelers/builders out.
VENDOR: That's exactly right, Scott. We've got a new product that we're coming out with this year called the Ultimate Replacement Casement window. (HOST: Right) What it is, is it goes beyond being simply a custom size casement window. It's designed to go into a replacement situation where many pocket windows have gone into before -- designed so that the throat of it goes into an old existing double hung opening.
But it has so many features to it. First of all, ease of installation. A lot of different fastening ways -- You can use a nailif you wanted to. You could use brackets if you wanted to. It also comes predrilled on the sides under the side casings -- the hardware covers -- so that you can put it in with jamb jacks. All the fasteners are along with the product.
HOST: So the installation process isn't that hard.
VENDOR: It isn't that hard. (HOST: Beautiful) It's designed so that you can get in there, because the only thing you really have to control as a builder is your time. (HOST: Right) And so it gives you that ability to control the time when you do the installs on these things.
HOST: A lot of different styles to this?
VENDOR: Lot's of different styles. We have a lot of different simulated divided light options. We can do things with this. For instance, we can make a variation of the bottom rail so that it looks like an existing double hung. We have a simulated divided light option that makes it look like it's the check rail in a double hung. So you can put a double hung next one of these Ultimate Replacement Casements and you're really not going to see the difference if you're standing out there in the street looking at it. So it doesn't look like it's a patch job or a band-aid job on a replacement.
HOST: Today's buzz: green building. Now this is going to be [green] -- if you [replace] an old window -- and we're going to do some energy savings here by putting in this energy saving replacement window.
VENDOR: Absolutely. It comes with all of the glass options that we manufacture as Marvin because you can -- It will have low E with argon so you can do a lot of green options on this thing and performance options on this thing to really have a very energy efficient installation when you're all done. And the aesthetics of it are just beautiful.
The other thing about this is it's designed as a DP-50 window in all the sizes. We can build this thing in sizes up to forty inches wide and ninety-two inches tall. It is an exceptionally large casement window. So you can do it in a lot of large double hungs that are out there and other replacement situations. The other beautiful thing about this is one quick release with your hand on the arm and the whole thing pivots a hundred and forty degrees so you can wash it from the interior. So it's really a great feature for your homeowners.
HOST: And with casements -- I mean I have some and it's hard to wash the outside of that window. So yours comes out and spins.
VENDOR: (OVER) That's right -- and spins around and pivots. And you can do it all with one hand. It just operates beautifully.
HOST: So really I mean for my end of things, I can sell it as, one, we're going to have some energy savings and, two, we've got a bunch of different styles -- whatever you want. So we update their look and have energy savings.
VENDOR: And have performance throughout the whole thing. That's exactly right.
