Transcript: Field Turf Products, Featured at the 2008 International Builders' Show

Watch the Video on Artificial Turf (Field Turf)

HOST: Tell me a little bit about Field Turf, and I'm really interested -- I mean your product is green, but we need to talk about some of the green properties and initiatives. But first, tell me Field Turf.

REP: Sure. Field Turf is the largest synthetic turf company in the world. We're more well-known for our NFL Football applications; however, we're -- (HOST: So we see 'em on Sunday.) We see them on Sundays -- (HOST: And now we can use them in a residential -- ) We even see them obviously on the Saturdays with the teams in the N-C-double-A and all that. However, now we're launching our Greenscapes Divisions which cover our residential lawn application or playground application, our signature series golf application, and also our Pets Division.

HOST: Huh. Now, residentially and I'm a builder, where do I use this? Is it something I'm going to try to put a yard in with or --

REP: Sure. You can use it virtually for any application that would require greenscape. You can do it front yard/backyard. Use a playground facility. It's a great, great way to uh -- to help the environment with water shortages and saving the environment, eco-friendly --

HOST: And you don't have to cut it. (LAUGHS)

REP: You never have to mow it. Thank God for that. And we definitely don't have to cut it or mow it. You're saving--no pesticides -- Obviously, you're saving on the water issues (HOST: Uh-huh.), especially around the United States with all the water shortages.

HOST: Right. Now you and I were talking about -- You can get some lead credit for this project.

REP: A hundred-percent. We're members of the US Green Builder -- (HOST: Okay.) -- Builder Council. And we do qualify for Leads Credits, and we're happy to be members of them, and we can explain about all that if that needs to be done.

HOST: Okay, um -- How is this being received residentially? You guys are just now really kind of moving into the residential market. How's it been -- ? How's you're reception at the builders' show?

REP: It's been absolutely phenomenal. It's been incredible. We've been actually doing residential through our distributors nationwide for approximately five, six years now -- (HOST: Oh, okay. Okay.) And we're getting more into the commercial of it where the builders are just completely ecstatic about having this as an option because it's becoming more and more of a trend to go this route where it's -- all those catchphrases--easy, affordable -- (HOST: Right.) -- uh, the maintenance is low-maintenance, and all the environmental factors.

HOST: Are you seeing it mixed in with regular grass? I mean like -- I'm thinking of parts of the yard--and I've even seen people put putting greens in their backyard and then have natural turf. Is it a mixture or -- ?

REP: Sure. I mean the -- the funny thing is once we start installing the synthetic grass, if you want to call it that--it just looks so amazing, and they so appreciate it of it, that they actually say, you know what, why don't we do the side of the house? Why don't we do the front of the house instead of just doing the backyard? So, essentially, what -- you start out with a small area, and you finish the whole shebang. (HOST: Right.) But yes, we do residential putting greens, which are very, very popular, and obviously we know how great that is doing a few pitch-and-putts here and there in the backyard.

HOST: Sounds great. Well, I'm all for anything I don't have to mow. (REP: [LAUGHS]) And I appreciate you stopping by.

REP: Thank you very much. Appreciate it. [END]
