LP Gives 1.2 Million Sq. Ft. OSB to Katrina Rebuilding
Total OSB Donated by LP Reaches 2.7 Million Sq. Ft.

Nashville, Tenn./BUSINESS WIRE/July 14, 2006—Louisiana-Pacific Corp. today announced it will donate an additional 1.2 million square feet of oriented strand board (OSB) product to Hurricane Katrina rebuilding efforts, bringing the total LP product contribution to 2.7 million square feet.

LP had previously announced the donation of 1.5 million square feet of OSB to rebuilding efforts in the days immediately following Hurricane Katrina hitting the Gulf Coast.

The OSB product donated, which includes sub-flooring, wall and roof sheathing, will be used to construct the core structure of more than 500 affordable homes in the Gulf region, as part of Habitat for Humanity's Operation Home Delivery.

"LP has a strong relationship with Habitat for Humanity and we are grateful for the work being done by this fine organization to get rebuilding under way," said Rusty Carroll, LP OSB marketing manager. "As the world's largest manufacturer of OSB, LP is proud to provide structural products for every Habitat home constructed in the Gulf Coast this year, and we are excited about accelerating the rebuilding momentum Operation Home Delivery is bringing to the area."

In addition to owning a home constructed with quality LP structural products, the new Habitat homeowners in New Orleans will experience the long-term benefit and savings of increased energy efficiency because LP TechShield Radiant Barrier roof sheathing will be used in every home.

Manufactured with a thin, durable sheet of aluminum overlay laminated to LP OSB, the shield prevents up to 97 percent of the sun's radiant heat from radiating into the attic, so homes stay cooler and air conditioning units operate more efficiently. Research indicates that LP TechShield can ultimately reduce energy consumption by up to 20 percent.

"We are grateful for LP's generous donation to help in our efforts to build houses and hope for hurricane-affected families along the Gulf Coast," said Chris Clarke, senior vice president of communications for Habitat for Humanity International. "LP's support will not only provide immediate assistance in recovery and rebuilding efforts, but will also deliver important and lasting benefits for homeowners through lowered energy costs."

On Saturday, July 15, a group of LP executives and employees will work alongside Southern governors to construct a home in Musicians' Village, an 81-home Habitat community for displaced New Orleans musicians, as part of the Southern Governors' Association (SGA) annual meeting taking place in New Orleans July 15-17.

In addition to product contributions, LP donated $500,000 to the American Red Cross for Katrina relief. With cash and product donations, LP's total contribution to Hurricane Katrina relief efforts exceeds $1.2 million.
