Green Home Design Contest Shapes The New American Home

BOSTON -- www.FreeGreen.com is giving away a custom green home design, valued at $25,000, while simultaneously helping to re-shape the American Home. This is all part of FreeGreen's unique business model and recently launched FreeGreen Challenge (FGC).

"The mission to make green home designs accessible to everyone has been the backbone of our company since its inception. The FGC is a natural extension of our company's goals, and perfectly timed with the new U.S. housing bill to encourage thought about energy efficieny and green features in new home builds," says company CEO, Dave Wax.

Through the FGC, users will be invited to tell FreeGreen about their upcoming home building project, and their ideas on the next evolution in green homes. The winner of the FGC will get to work with FreeGreen to turn their ideas into a fully customized and complete set of architectural plans. The company will keep track of the design and build process through updates on their blog, so that everyone can view, and learn from this unique process.

The final design will also be posted on www.FreeGreen.com where it, like all of the company's other designs, will be available free for download.

Chief Architectural Officer Ben Uyeda explains "Rather than prescriptively designing what we think the 'next' green home should be, we are going to ask consumers about their visions, dreams, and goals. It is this intersection of internet scale, and personal interaction which will allow us to develop new dwelling concepts that can be consumed by the masses."

The pioneer and leader in affordable green architecture, FreeGreen.com begins accepting challenge applications this week. The company's founders will pick the FreeGreen user which they believe presents the best, most practical, and most original green design ideas.

Contest submissions will end September 30th. For a complete set of rules, more information, and to apply, visit www.FreeGreen.com and click on 'Custom Design Contest.'
