    Makita BTP140

Can you say "category killer"? This product is a paradigm shift in drilling and driving. I've been waiting for it for a long time. The BTP140 combines impact driving, hammer drilling and clutched drilling in a single 18-volt lithium-ion powered tool. My only question is "What doesn't this tool do?"

Makita says the BTP140's "hero function" is impact driving, and I like that forthrightness. Cordless impact drivers are already close to sending cordless drills to the back of the gang box; this one is a big push in that direction. I can use it to drill small holes in concrete for expansion anchors, then switch out to set cabinet hinges, then switch again to sink 1/2 x 6-inch lags in a deck — all powered by cutting-edge 18-volt lithium ion batteries on Makita's LXT ergonomic platform. The term "hero function" has taken on a new meaning for me.
