HUMMER (yes, like the big yellow trucks) branded their own laptop computers in 2006 and whatever you think of the trucks, the computer version kicks. First, they are "ruggedized." They pass mil-spec (military specification) 810F, which means that they are tested to survive unharmed vibration, temperature extremes, and multiple drops to plywood over concrete. No problem.
Encased in cool inlaid magnesium housing, this computer lives up to its claim of being rugged. I tested one and did things to it that's send a regular old laptop crying to its mommy. My systems guy took a look under the hood and liked what he saw, too. It's got serious wireless capability, touch-screen, sealed keyboard, and a smart handle system that makes it portable without a case. What's even better is that it is competitively priced with Brand X laptops.
