Granite countertops are a top-selling feature of any home on the market. As with most things prized, it's difficult to achieve. It costs more than most counter materials, and it takes more know-how power to install — along with scheduling and paying a sub to fit it, install it and bore it for plumbing fixtures.

Ah, but there's good news for those pining away for granite: Formica has stepped up to the countertop on providing an easier way to install granite. The company is among a few who have actually created a line of modular granite pieces that fit standard shaped countertops — galley, L-shaped, U-shaped, diagonal-shaped — for kitchens, home offices, wet bar, baths and anywhere else you want the trendy surface.

Formica is mining the material from around the globe to provide six color options: Brazilian Black, Baltic Brown, Giallo Venezia, Venetian Green, Luna Castillo, and Verde Lavrus. Backsplash options and a 1-1/2-inch bullnose edge detail that's perfect for kitchens and bars are offered.

To make it easier to provide your customers with granite surfaces, the company claims, the modular Formica granite pieces arrive ready to install.
