I like knots. When I'm shopping for lumber, I sometimes search for the most mangled-looking pieces of straight wood I can find to add texture to some of my woodworking and trim projects. The more mangled the surface, the more interesting the final piece looks to me. I know everyone isn't me, and if you don't have clients with this unique taste, you might not care about the Mesquite Collection of doors from Craftsmen in Wood. (But if you need doors to fit the fortress look, you might care about their other doors or cabinet fronts, so go check them out.)
The Mesquite Collection offers what the company calls "freely wandering grain patterns," with open knots and wormholes highlighted on its resawn surface. Among the doors in the collection is a Dutch door with a 6-lite upper panel and a custom-carved panel door. Showcase pieces for a particular type of wood lover, the Mesquite doors are nothing less than memorable.
