Anything that's both quiet and automatic gets a pile of props in my book. Indeed, I wish more things in my life were quiet and automatic, but that's another story. To keep it on building products, the new Ultra Silent Humidity Sensing fan from Broan fits the bill.
In the full-out, schedule-packed way we all seem to be navigating the planet, this fan looks like a must-have feature to any crazy-busy customer's bathroom remodel or for the gadget-mad hyped on "Wow!" factor. The fan simply turns on to exhaust moisture when it detects an increase in the humidity level at a ceiling. And when the moisture is gone, the fan turns itself off. The amount of time the fan runs can be adjusted from five to 60 minutes. (Note: Unless your customer has a sauna in the room to be vented, a 60-minute run time will likely empty a significant portion of the house's conditioned air.)
You can change the fan's sensitivity level, too. The Ultra Silent fans and fan/light/nightlights are UL-listed for use over bathtubs and showers when connected to a GFCI protected branch circuit, which gives you options when designing the lighting/venting plan. Sweet. The company even offers one of these fans with a 42-watt fluorescent, making it Energy Star-qualified.
