There are just some structures that speak to the carpenter in me. I can hear my voice loud and clear, too, when I see outdoor structures such pergolas, gates, fences, arbors and other products from Walpole Woodworkers. To steal a line from a carpenter I knew, "I'd build them for free."
What I like about Walpole's stuff are the terrific designs, of course: In a sense they take a space that's nothing and not only make it something, but make it something special. And the mix of rough and finish carpentry it takes to build one project is also great fun to me.
Walpole can cut packages from solid wood such as cedar or composites. Their stock designs gracefully combine Greek- or Craftsman-styled columns with scroll-cut 2-by to perfectly define spaces. We contractors or our customers can work directly with Walpole to dial in design specs before Walpole sets their woodworkers loose.
Seriously, anybody can slap a gate together, but creating one with distinct style and lasting dignity is another matter.
