2009 NKBA Kitchen Design Finalists
Small Kitchens Category -- 3rd Place -- A Cityscape to Behold
A red quartz countertop was at the core of the clients' wishes for their city condominium. This second home for a retired couple had an outdated kitchen that was out of sync with their contemporary artistic style. An exceptional view and a location near their grown children gave them the perfect starting block for a space to entertain.
Highlighting their art collection was achieved by extensive lighting on independent controls. Appliances behind panels or an aluminum finish are the solution to the clients' desire to avoid stainless. Calcutta Gold marble for the floor and glass horizontal tile on the backsplash in a mix of matte and gloss finish was chosen to coordinate with the acrylic finished European cabinets.
